Mondays practice was rained out, due to this saturdays practice will be 10-noon (helmets only).

With the injury to QB Griffin Pollock, Drew Bertz will get the nod this week vs the other Springfield team.

Attendance has been a problem all year. Once again if you are to miss practice please contact a coach. Otherwise any no call/no show could result in an loss of playing time. We have to be fair to those athletes who do show regularly.

Bulldogs Fall at Springfield

Bulldogs dropped their second game of the season with a 41-0 defeat to the Springfield Black Blue Devils. Injuries, turnovers, penalties, poor blocking and tackling had the Bulldogs in a downward spiral all game.

Our second scrimmage, St. Rose came to Glenwood. The Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders Sev Durden scored multiple times including a pass from QB Griffin Pollock. Griffin and Derek Boyd also added scores of their own. Defense again played tough lead by the entire DL. St. Rose didnt score at all. Bulldogs travel 2 Springfield on sunday...

Bulldogs win Season Opener!

5th/6th Maroon Bulldogs won the season opener 7-0 over Maumee Purple. A hard fought game that went back and forth all game until Sev Durden broke one through the middle and up the left sideline for the first points of the game, Griffin Pollock finished of the scoring by adding the PAT on a QB run. The team defense of the Bulldogs would not be denied. Already looking in mid-season form caused several turnovers and finished the game by pitching a shutout!

Scrimmage Notes

On Thursday Night we had a scrimmage vs Maumee Bay Clay Eagles. We learned a lot about ourselves. I would like to thank the parents for coming out during a "non-normal" night of practice. I played our "estimated" first team O and played a lot of the kids I haven't had the pleasure of coaching yet on Defense. Everyone started and played bunches! I wanted to see where we stood as a whole. We have several first year kids who we are in a learning curve of sorts. Might I say they have already improved by leaps and bounds. Every. Single. Kid. All the kids will "get it" (referring to the hitting and aggressiveness of football itself) at different points throughout the season. I am confident they will blossom this year. I will tweak our systems to better suit our teams strengths and weakness's. I try to make things and the system as easy as possible. I always tell the kids they control their own playing time: those who are paying attention, learning their playbooks, able to execute the safe and proper techniques, who are on time and present at practice. I don't believe in being a drill instructor of a coach at this age. I believe in holding them accountable for their play. Overall we didnt do to bad at the scrimmage. Were a long way from where we need to be, but I believe the kids understand now what we are looking for. Tackling was an issue. They shouldn't have had 2 of those TD's in my book, plus one I sent a blitz and they ran right at it and we didnt execute, so coach will take the blame for that one. However, we did score more TD's than them. I had to go out and tell them that we weren't going to run any other packages except this certain one we weren't doing well enuff. Well, they scored 3 or 4 TD's in that one session alone. Very proud of them and our progress so far. I think they understand what is expected of them come sunday. I believe in a couple certain football philosophys: On being to be succsessful you need to improve a little bit each day. We use the visual of our "fumble tree" at practice. Could you chop that tree down with one or 2 hits with an ax? No, I would take hit, after hit, after hit. That tree represents our season and to be successfull its gonna take many many hits, sprints, tackles, blocks, play after play to knock that thing down to be successful. My coaching motto is: Hustle, Hit and Don't Quit!

Sunday we play Maumee at RHS. Kickoff is @ 1. Meet time is Noon. Maul Maumee!

Update on Seth

My Son Seth was admitted to the hospital on Labor Day. He had surgery on Wed and will hopefully be released this coming monday. He went to the ER the saturday before labor day, He was complaining of leg and hip pain. They X-rayed, Dopplered it, Blood work, Urine sample, etc etc. Nothing came about, so they sent him home citing muscle strain/pull. Then come Labor day he still couldn't walk, even to make it to the bathroom. We called his doc and he told us to go back to the ER, where they made the decision to admit him where they seen elevated White Blood Cell Count and they wanted to to an MRI.

Finally, the MRI came and went and it showed fluid on both hips, but majority was on his right side. They took a sample of it and determined it was an infection. What excatly and how they really don't know, just one of those things. They took him in that afternoon and cleaned out his right side. They said the infection did no damage to his hip cartilage which is a good thing! He is now recovering on heavy antibiotics and steroids. He's getting up and around slowly with crutches. We hope he can be released on Monday, and looking to return to school the following monday. He will however miss the rest of the football season. Its been a very trying time not only dealing with my autistic child with some random infection, but I would like to thank everyone who called, texted, dropped some sort of message and especially those of you that came and visited. Thank you for all your kinds words, thoughts and prayers, we love you all and appreciate everything.

Any parent that would like to be on the Parent Advisory Board for the little league needs to let Bob Bergstrom know tonight or Monday. We'd like at least one parent from each team. We'll meet briefly once a week to go over any concerns, relay information for the teams, Assist with anything else communication wise that needs to go between the teams and the Officers. Thank you in advance to all that volunteer to increase communications.

Players got their winners manual/playbooks today. In it is 2 copies of the game and practice schedule. Also is the "contract" which states what to expect from us coaches and what we expect from our players. We would like to have them signed this week. Practice from here on out will be over across from the soccer field entrance, right next to the shelter house @ glenwood. Over there is the blocking sled also. When you pull in to glenwood go further back than normal and it will be on the right side. So far things have been very positive. No positions are set, and they wont be for a long while. Were just doing a lot of reps right now. I thought they were gonna pass out pants today but they didnt, I hope tomorrow, but im not sure. Ill try to get an answer on that ASAP. We did some good conditioning today, hopefully they sleep well for you!

Practice Schedule
This Week we are allowed 10 hours to practice. We will practice Mon, Tue, Wed 6-8, and Sat 9am-noon.
Next Week school starts and we are only allowed 6 hours. We will practice Mon, Wed 6-8 and Sat 10-noon, NO PRACTICE THE TUESDAY OF OPEN HOUSE. However there will be practice on the first day of school.
After that the normal practice will be Mon, Tues, Wed 6-7:30 and Sat 10:30 to Noon (helmets only).

Updates
-By law we must practice 3 days in pads before we start hitting. If thing pan out this will fall on this Saturday.
-Equipment will probably start to be passed out on monday.
-If there are any parents who wish to help please speak to my wife, Heather, on monday. (chain gang, coaching, score board, concessions)

Final Words for the '10 Season *UPDATED

I'd like to thank all the coaches who volunteered all their time and energy into making this season a successful one. This was the first time I've had the pleasure of working with Jim Worley and Darrell Rodgers, we got along great and hope to keep running into them again and again. I've coached with Nick Floering before, during last years flag football season, I have also had the pleasure of coaching Nick himself on our adult team over the past 5 years. This was the first time Ive worked with Coach "Peppercorns" (Scott Jianuzzi), although I coached his son last year and our kids also played t-ball together when they were little tykes. Scott did very well with the defense this year and we were on the same page as coaches. Scott brought in the idea for Crunch bars for big crunching hits. I believe it was great idea and lead to some great hits and memories. Then my brother Scott Arnold, This year has been pretty bitter sweet dealing with him. He is a 20year old brain-washed extreme marine in pretty much every aspect of his life. This season with him by my side has been special, Coach Scott is now going active and going to be getting deployed very soon. I'm sad to see him leave but I know this is something he really wants to do. Im just glad I've had some extra time with him before he is gone.

On to the season, First of all thank you to the Worley and Reiter boys for being water boys during our games. My first season with the RLLF we had only 5 4th graders and the rest were 3rd graders, the young kids had no choice but to play and learn on the fly. This year all of those 3rd graders were now 4th graders. 11 returning players and 4 more first year 4th graders and 8 3rd graders made up our roster. I knew from day one we had size. So the challenge was to get the most of of those returning athletes while getting the first year players up to speed and with the first year kids it always takes time to build up their confidence and knowledge of the game. Each kid learns at a different rate and it is a challenge to keep the teams momentum moving forward in the early stages of the season. As we started game play it seemed like we just couldn't play all aspects of the game at once on game day. First couple weeks our offensive line wasn't quite grasping our blocking scheme. Then we made a QB change and had to get that hammered out. Then our edge defense wasn't up to par. But by the end of the year we put it all together and were pumping on all cylinders! Offense, Defense, Special Teams... they finally played as a team, and the won as a team. All in all I consider this season a successful one. The key point I stressed all year were: to improve a little bit everyday. To Hustle, Hit and Don't Quit! So as I look back on the season did they improve? Yes! Did they Hustle? Yes! Did they hit? Yes! Did they not quit? YES YES YES! I told the kids in the beginning of the year that we were on a journey together trying to climb a mountain, we couldn't do it individually we had to do it as a team, and if we did we would be successful!

Once again to all those kids I had the pleasure to work with, I loved and enjoyed every second of it, both the good (wins) and the bad (losses) times because without both of those you wouldn't be able to build character. I tried to make things as easy to learn and as fun as possible. I tried to think outside of the box. I tried to instill the qualities that would help these kids outside of football as well. I can't wait to see these 3rd graders play next year! I think every single one of them is ready to contribute and be huge factors come next year! Im proud to announce that every single player got a chance to start this year and also they all got major playing time above and beyond the 5th Quarters. This experience will help the younger one grow and be successful next year!

Thank you again parents its been a pleasure to be a part of your little athletes life for a few weeks!

Bulldogs Full Fill the Prophecy of Victory!

Last monday Coach Zach pulled the team together and told them, "What has happened in the past, is in the past. This weekend we are winning that game. Were going to have faith in our defense and work hard all week. All I ask of you, is to believe!"

Im so very proud of the team today, they played well on both sides of the ball. CB's and LB's played outstanding. Early in the week we picked our CB's and LB's who have been having a little bit of trouble and we worked them all week, the same group of players. Instead of rotating on Defense like we have been, we rotated at TE by series.

The 5th Quarter kids (who have seen tons of regular season playing time this year) completely dominated the session. Bright spots were: Madison, Stetter, Fink, Sparks, Poorman, CJ and Pedersen.

This coming week is our biggest game of the year vs White team. Were going to try our best to start the 4th graders. We will proceed with our TE rotation as well.

So very proud once again, I knew you all had it in you! Lets have 2 good practices so we can have our final practice on the season on Wed. Im not gonna spill the beans, but Wed's practice will be the best of the year!

Ps. Would like to give Duncan a shout-out. After our game he hurried up to Michigan to play a hockey game where he arrived late but still managed to score a hat trick! Despite losing 6-5 he also had a shot on goal as time expired that was denied.

Rossfords backfield was in full stride again as Derek Boyd, Griffin Pollack, Hadden Rodgers and Duncan Odneal all ran for touchdowns in a 26-53 loss to the undefeated Maumee Black team.

Defense still an achilles heel will be the focus again for this weeks coming week of practice. We will pick one set of LB's and CB's and they will get all the reps this week. Why? Because we obviously have the offense to compete. If we work hard enough this week we feel we can solidify our defensive unit to prevent so many big plays. We did this a few weeks ago with our offense and it worked. The "this is our offense, we have faith in you, make it happen." Now look at our offense, moving the ball every drive and scoring points. This week we will show the same faith in our defense.

Last weeks game we improved vastly. OL and DL played tremendous. Griffin Pollock rushed for 130 yards in addition to Duncan and Hadden gaining well on the ground as well. Boyd made his first start at our 2 back and landed his first TD of the season. Hadden and Griffin added scores also. Special recognition's to Logan for plowing our wedge blocks and Hadden for an excellent game as his first start at QB. Also props to Griffin who had a monster game on both sides of the ball after his return from injury. Seth also played prolly his best game as he got his first start on defense even while sick, he couldn't finish the second half but he played hard and well in the first.

This weeks effort has been outstanding. We really focused on our defensive pursuits, angles, LB and CB play. We did move some people around to better suit our strengths and weakness's as a team. During Wed's practice we got a good 20 minute workout vs the 5/6 grade team. Its was very nice of them to give us a hand. I wish we would of thought of that prior to Wed. Thanks to Boyd for the idea (he just wanted to hit his older brother).

You will notice other changes in this weeks game. We will run 2 Defenses named "playmakers" and "warriors" most everyone is on one or the other (if not then they are starting offense). This will ensure that everyone will get into the games. We will sub the defenses as we see fit and which ever will benefit the team and the scoreboard. This week our special teams will be different too, we gave up a punt return for a TD so I have tried to strengthen them as well. That is exactly the reason I don't like punting the ball. During the last 3 weeks every single kid has gotten at least 5 quarters of playing time (over and above the 5th quarters). I'm not worried about when that playing time occurs, the point is they got in above and beyond the 5th Quarter. I challenge you parents to watch the other games from our RLLF. I guarantee I play the kids as much if not more than all the other RLLF teams. A reminder about our "depth chart':

The Depth Chart is just a guide tool. No player is ever “locked” into certain spots. Spots can be won or lost on a daily basis. Please do not hang much weight on this depth chart. Different teams require different adjustments. Any injuries could throw things “out of whack” as well. This is just a guide.

Also the 5th Quarter is NOT a bad thing. It is designed for the kids who are first year football players, who aren't as big as some of the other kids yet and who may have not quite grasped the full extent of contact yet. The last thing I want is to see a young athlete seriously injured. If you the parents have a negative view of the 5th Quarter please keep it to yourself. Its there as a tool to get the experience to keep moving up the ladder of Rossford Football (5/6th, Jr High then High School). If your kid makes a good play in the 5th acknowledge it! We do with our crunch bars and weekly awards. We film both the game and the 5th quarter. So we can correct things as needed or so we can "promote" an athlete to a position.

Once again I coach because I love kids. I used to coach adults and trust me id rather deal with a kid "watching butterfly's" than dealing with ego-maniac adults on a daily basis. I love this game (just ask my wife, I drive her crazy). I volunteer my time to help teach these kids the game while keeping them safe and trying to have fun so they want to come back each and every year, so we can watch them on friday nights and win some games both then and now! I'll leave you with the RLLF mission statement once again:

Do not forget wristbands! We intoduced these as a tool and as a part of their equipment. We try to make our system as simple as possible, which is why we use the wristbands. They are expensive and need to be brought to every form of practice or game (contact or not). Failure to bring wristband could result in a loss of playing time because the athlete wont know what to do.

BULLDOGS SHAKE THINGS UP

The Bulldogs shook some things up this week gearing up for their game @ home vs AW. The biggest change is Hadden Rodgers will now take the snaps at QB. Not including the QB, 8 other bulldogs will start at different positions. Derek Boyd will get the nod at halfback, he has gotten lots of playing time in the past few weeks and has definatley seperated himself as a starter. Also joining him in the backfield Sparks and Jianuzzi will now rotate in the plays. Matt Wovcitzky will make his first start on the OL. Other moves on the OL moves Klotz to a rotating TE spot as well. On defense Logan and Seth will make their first starts at DT, Austin has started to come into his own at LB, Collin slides over to CB and Sparks takes on the role of Rover. Congrats to all the kids who have cracked the starting line ups! We discussed with the athletes a few weeks ago that the coaches don't make the starting lineup or determine how much playing time they get, the athletes themselves do! Those who are being aggressive, paying attention, learning the system and giving forth an effort of 100% or more will control their own destiny as far as getting onto the field and how often they get on the field. Of course my goal as a coach is to get everyone into the game, everyone be safe and healthy and of course, WIN!

This week we had a pretty darn good week of practice, we had some fun and got some business done as well. Im very excited and have a positive mind set for sundays game. Kickoff @ 11am, Meet @ 10am.

A Moment on Concussions

My son Seth received a concussion last year during the last week of the season. The doctors (Gladieux) rule of thumb is if it is a confirmed concussion they he recommends they stay out of action for a week after the concussion symptoms have disappeared. Hopefully, we wont have to deal with this, but just in case we need to know what to do. If a player tells our staff that they have a headache during or after contact we will hold them out for safety issues. We have a couple parents (my wife Heather, Matt's dad John who are paramedics and a couple others are also in the medical field) that can help confirm a possible concussion. Also I am certified in CPR and know how to check for concussion symptoms as well. Not trying to scare any parents just trying to keep the awareness up.

Climbing that Mountain!

The bulldogs lost yesterday on the scoreboard, but improved vastly on the field. A couple bright spots include our OL. The OL finally worked as a unit and we moved the ball. Defense played well but finishing and tackling ultimately was our Achilles Heel this weekend. Special Teams played well, not allowing any return yardage on punts. Props to Hadden Rodgers for punting (after never practicing it) do to both our original punters getting hurt. The last 2 weeks the first year and third graders have gotten tons of playing time and its shown on the field. The first year and third graders dominated the 5th quarter on both sides of the ball. Several bright spots such as: Hadden at QB, Duncan, Shawn, Klotz, Brent, Logan, W and Fink.

Team Update

As a team we have been putting hard work in order to shine our rough edges a bit. A couple of things we could work on as a team are: turnovers, sustaining their block, jumping offsides and playing hard every play (not taking plays off). We worked very hard on the center snap, trying multiple people. In addition to the RBs carrying the football around all week at practice. On wed we worked hard on trying to vary the snap count (going on one, two, three) but that didn't work very well. We tried to use running as a tool to help learn that transition. However it wouldn't stick with the kids. I addressed multiple times, walking on the football field will not be tolerated (including my son). If you walk on the field it is a lack of respect to your teammates who are jogging and its a sign you have given up, and on this team we never surrender. This week I also moved conditioning to the front of practice, doing it the other way we always didn't have the time to condition properly.

At this point I think we only have 3-4 kids who haven't quite grasped the aggressiveness of football yet. Every single one of them have potential. However, it takes time for some kids to "get it." As a coaching staff we will still be working with these kids trying to get them to come out of their shells. Once that happens we will be able to get them into the rotation with the other kids. Until then I'm not sold on those kids being in a safe enough environment on the field unless it is the 5th quarter. As an example: as a parent as well as coach my son last year barely saw any playing time. He wasn't grasping "it" what so ever and I was concerned with his safety on the field against other teams. It took him until this year in order for him to come around. The kids will learn at their own pace.

Regarding 1st Teamers vs 5th Quarter vs Special Teams. From here on out there will no longer be a first team and second team. Coaches will play everyone who is ready to play and who is learning their plays and giving a good effort. The depth chart varies everyday and will change as we evolve as a team. Once again 5th Quarter is for the younger kids, I will play as many 3rd graders and first year players as possible for the 5th Quarter. I will use the 5th Quarter to give these kids as much exposure and experience as possible for next year. We have 8 returning players from my team last year and all 8 of them played 5th Quarter as 3rd graders. I will also use the 5th Quarter to try to have the kids play the position they want to and/or get them to run the ball now and then. Special Teams, per league rule all special teams have to consist of players under the 90lbs mark. Punt team players will consist of the best tacklers and punt return will consist of the best blockers we have. In our league all PAT kicks are worth 2pts and run or pass conversions are worth 1 pt. Starting next week we will begin working on our PAT kicks and will attempt them in game situation once were ready (no weight limit for PAT kicker). Last year we tried to kick only once all year (and made it!).

As a coaching staff we have agreed to give some rewards out. Coach Scott J. (Defensive Cord) has agreed to give our crunch bars for the best defensive hits of the games. I will be awarding a weekly scout team player of the week. Also the team voted for captains in which Collin and Zach P. won. But also each week the coaching staff will nominate 2 players earn captain spots as well. This week Griffin and Zach S. will be joining Collin and Zach out at the coin toss. One last thing, this week I passed out an updated playbook. There is nothing new in it. However, we did remove 4 plays to condense it a bit.

Dawgs Fall One Point Short

The Panthers jumped out to a 8-0 lead. However, Rossford finally found their groove on Offense after a slow first quarter and big runs by Hadden Rodgers and Duncan Odneal put us on the board. Griffin Pollock added the conversion. Our defense played excellent after giving up the early TD. The biggest factors that control the games are penalties and turnovers. It just so happened that turnovers killed us... 2 in the 4th quarter, both on their side of the field.

Would like to give some props tio the 2nd team. There play improved about 200%!

Springfield Scrimmage Aftermath

First thoughts on the scrimmage were that positive. However, upon further review of the video tape, things were not as bad as originally feared. Emotions tend to run wild during gameplay. First team Offense and Defense were very solid in the opening segments. The only 2 plays the little devils gained yards on were due to missed tackles.

Second teamers was a little rough, I wont lie. However, most of those kids were first year players and that was the first time they have ever played against an opponent.

The biggest room for improvement as a whole is blocking (including firing off the line and staying low and continuing to block to the whistle) as well as tackling, wrapping up and holding on. Several players showed promise and improvement.

Saturday we will finish our special teams and walk through our 1st and 5th quarter lineups after pictures. Our Parents meeting will follow, will only last a few minutes.

Moving Practice...

From here on out we will be practicing on the other side of the Glenwood complex. Over where we practiced during the rain practices during conditioning. Over where the blocking sled is. Over where my team practiced last year. Closer to the school, by the jungle-gym.

There were some concerns about walking and parking on the "new" grass over by the tennis courts. For the scrimmage we will walk down to to goal post from our side.

Talking with the moms I know on the maroon football team, we have all decided to order a "moms jersey" up in Perrysburg. We have been trying to get the word out to all the moms, if they are interested in purchasing one, and then wear them to all the football games. The jerseys are $25 at J-M Designs (downtown Pburg) and they are a Rossford Moms Jersey. The childs number goes on the front and their last name goes on the back. It will take a couple of days for the order to come in. This is totally optionial!

As we have closed out our first full week of hitting and after having our first intersquad scrimmage we have released our first "depth chart" and will proceed as a team in this direction. The depth chart is never set in stone, and spot can be won or lost every single practice. We use this as a guideline as we proceed. Keep in mind first year players progress differently (especially the 3rd Graders). A couple may get "it" right away, however it take a couple to get "it" until they become 4th graders. The aggresiveness and attacking is the hardest thing to over come. Any questions where your kid stands please feel free to Coach Zach.

Second Week of Practice

On monday we had our first Defensive practice. Things went well, only went over run defense and your basic alignment, keys and responsibilties. Ended up splitting up the D into halfs and ran against a scout team O. Seemed to get a better look that way.

On tues we installed a new play, the kids really seemed to enjoy it. The wildcat, had to tweek it to fit our system, but we feel this will benefit our strenghts as a team.

On Wed, we will run with the 2nd and 3rd stringers on offense.

We had some trouble with kids paying attention and picking on each other. I think we have it addressed and it should not be an issue from here on out.

- First contact practice was wet and fun! From here on out we will be going full contact in full pads!

- From here on out we will be practicing down by the goal post (far side). Parents may park down there now, they had the ribbon cutting ceremony sat morning. However, please dont park on the shoulder of the drive way.

- Our Scrimmage vs Springfield will be on the 8th @ Glenwood. Times will be altered a bit. 6pm arrive, 6:30 start.

- Darrell Rodgers (Hadden) will be joining our coaching roster on Monday as work allows him too. Welcome aboard!

- Mondays will be defensive days, Tuesdays & Wednesdays will be offense.

- Practices are not optional! If you are not in attendance you are hurting yourself and the team!

- Pictures have been postponed. No new date yet, as soon as i know I will pass along.

- Next sat practice will be a inter-squad scrimmage. Our team will be divided up into 2 squads. I will ref, position coaches will coach. Should be a lot of fun!

No Makeup Date & Championship Game

Got word form the Rec. There will be no make-up game, Baseball games start the following week and the diamond will be in use by them. Therefore, this weeks game is the final "championship" game. I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

In the beginning of the year we I made a deal with the kids that I would buy Ice Cream for the entire team if we ever got a "pick 6" an Interception for a TD. Today we had 2! Collin first then Noah late... Cody almost added a third inside the final minute of regulation! Good job fellas. Most kids are playing hard, but there are a couple who go through the motions or refuse to play certain positions. (My son included) Coach Nick and I try to get everyone chances to run the ball, several kids flat out refuse to. Also a couple kids only want to play one side of the ball. Well with our numbers our kids dont have a choice but to play "iron man" football. However a couple still give half hearted efforts when they dont get their way. As long as most of them are happy, ill be happy. After all this is just Rec Ball.

ICE CREAM INFO: I will keep my word on Ice Cream, however this afternoon they were not open yet. So we will figure something out here directly. Maybe after a practice or something.

Week 2 Results

The team of Griffin, Jack, Austin, Jake and Collin rolled to a 19-2 victory. Couple good TD runs by Collin, a conversion by Griffin, a few great passes by Jack & Austin lead the way not to mention Jake on Defense is a monster!

The team of Cody, Matt, Nick, Noah, Caleb and Caleb played hard all day with great plays by both Calebs, Noah and Matt. Meanwhile Nick and Cody held down the defense including Cody's coast to coast INT return on the conversion.

Reminder: There will still be practice this wed and next (post office @ 5:30) there will be no game this coming easter weekend.

Pts. Homework = Bring me a Steeler name that had your uni #, and a guy from your fav team (college or pro) to get a bonus pt this week for a possible total of 2 bonus pts added to your running season total!

Coach Nick Blue Team (Matt, Collin, Caleb, Austin and Jacob) won in a 12-6 battle. All were credited with 3pts. and the points list has been updated. RULE EXPLANATION
-Each week the coach(s) will split the kids up into teams (the make-up of the teams should be different each week and either competitively balanced based on the kids abilities, or occasionally it could be “luck of the draw” with kids pulling numbers randomly to determine who they will be playing with that week.
-Each week the kid’s should get some practice time with their teammates for that week to determine a game plan for that week (who is playing qb, some basic plays, etc.)
-The two teams will play eachother on Saturday’s following the Rossford Rec Center Flag Football rules distributed to the coaches at the meeting
-The players on the winning team will earn the number of points assigned to the victory that week (mark on chart)
-The players on the losing team will earn 1 point as long as they participated in the game (mark on chart)
-Anyone not able to participate that week will miss out on points for the week and not have any added to their total for that game
-Over the course of the season you can throw in opportunities to earn extra points in practices…some of the things we did in the past was have skills competitions, races, reward players that hustled, etc. We also would throw out some football trivia about NFL or college football where the kids would have to look up something (ex name a player in the NFL or college football who has your jersey number, etc.) These extra point opportunities allows you to create some separation between players points totals in case many of them are clumped together with the same amounts
-At the end of the season a championship game will be played where the top 6 point getters are on the #1 seeded team and they play against the next 6 (#2 seed)….if more players join during the season, the split can be different or an additional team may be formed if we get 15 players or more with the #2 seed and #3 seed playing eachother for the opportunity to face the #1 seed in the championship game.
-A scoresheet to track the players point totals for the games is included…feel free to modify it and add extra point opportunities for the kids

I'd like to thank all the kids who showed up yesterday at McDonald's. Unfortunately, probably due to the holiday weekend, some people were unable to come for the reunion. With that said, there are a handful of people who still haven't received their video. I will be trying to get into contact with the following people tomorrow afternoon unless I get in contact with the following people by email at redsfan9682@yahoo.com. I volunteer at the hospital on Mondays and Wednesdays from noon-4 and Alex has basketball practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 with games on Saturday mornings all at the Rec. Other than that, I have open availablility.

The 2009 Season Highlight Film of the 3rd and 4th Grade Rossford Maroon Bulldogs will be released and handed out at the McDonalds on Buck/Lime City Road @ Noon this Saturday. Come and meet the team one last time for lunch as we pass out the DVD's.
